HOLD™ is a survivor-informed awareness training designed to help allies and professionals better understand the experiences of mothers navigating complex grief, child loss, separation, and system involvement.
By strengthening communication and connection, HOLD™ helps participants recognize opportunities for support before a crisis demands attention.
When someone is facing loss, separation, or overwhelming circumstances, the people around them can make a lasting difference.
But support is not about having the perfect words or knowing every answer.
It begins with understanding your role, respecting someone's experience, and knowing when to listen, when to encourage, and when to connect them with additional resources.
HOLD™ helps participants move from good intentions to informed action.
HOLD™ is built around four guiding principles that help participants recognize their role and respond with greater care.
Hear Before You Help
Support begins with listening. Before offering answers, allies learn to understand the person, the circumstances, and what support may actually be needed.
Observe Without Assuming
Awareness requires curiosity, not conclusions. Participants learn to notice changes, challenges, and concerns while respecting that every person's experience is unique.
Listen With Respect
rust grows when people feel heard without judgment, pressure, or expectation. Participants practice communication that honors choice and dignity.
Direct Toward Connection
No one person can meet every need. Allies learn how to recognize their role, maintain healthy boundaries, and connect people with appropriate support.
HOLD™ combines survivor-informed education with practical tools that participants can apply within their own roles and communities.
Participants explore:
The impact of complex experiences
